My eyes automatically drifted over to the blonde Slytherin who was positioned carefully away in the corner. His eyes were down casted; he seemed far away, as if he hadn’t heard what the professor had said- as if he weren’t even in the classroom with everyone else.
His eyes lifted in that instant, immediately catching mine; my face turned hot and flushed. I waited for the inevitable outburst, the usual ‘Mudblood’ remark, anything…
